“This is the most commonly used simulator for eye surgery that we know of and it’s vital from a training perspective,” says Göran Kindåker, Chairman at the Department of anterior segment disorders, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology and oculoplastics at St. Erik Eye Hospital.
The Eyesi simulator provides opportunities for basic skills training, training in surgical procedures and complications management. Users receive step-by-step guidance that leads to a higher level of surgical skill.
Both novice and experienced surgeons can benefit from simulator-based training using VR technology. At the end of each session, the simulator provides an objective and detailed skills evaluation.
The Eyesi simulator is already being used to train eye surgeons by, among other institutions, the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London.
