St. Erik Eye Hospital is together with Karolinska Institutet the most comprehensive ophthalmic and vison research institution in Sweden. Research closely linked to clinical practice is a prerequisite for future eye care.

Research facilities at St. Erik

The facilities consist of around 1,500 square metres for research, innovation, and development. Experimental, non-clinical and clinical research is conducted in well-equipped laboratories.

Shorter path to new treatments target for St. Erik´s new research environment

The environment aims to provide optimal conditions for translating the research results faster and more efficiently from basic research to clinical reality for the patients.

About 35 employees at the hospital are active in clinical research. We have one professor and one adjunct professor with joint employment at Karolinska Institutet.

Yearly, approximately 35-40 scientific articles are published by the research groups.
