Doctoral student Flavia Plastino awarded during European eye congress

Flavia Plastino, a doctoral student at St. Erik Eye Hospital and Karolinska Institutet, received all available awards during the European eye congress EVER 2019 in Nice in October.

​During October 17-19, the 22nd European association for Vision and Eye Research (EVER) congress took place in Nice, France. During the EVER congress basic and clinical ophthalmology research from across Europe and other parts of the world were presented.

Dr Helder André and his doctoral students Flavia Plastino and Noemi Anna Pesce represented St. Erik Eye Hospital and Karolinska Institutet.

The research group presented work on their findings in neovascular age-related macular degeneration and retinopathy of prematurity. 

Flavia Plastino's presentation on “Efficacy of echinomycin in hypoxia-inducible factor-mediated ocular angiogenesis” received all of EVER’s awards: Young Investigator Award, Best Poster Award and Travel Grant for Best Abstract.
